Before Halifax was a city, it was a fortress.

Cannons once lined these shores. Forts stood guard over the harbour. Beneath the waters surrounding McNabs Island lie generations of Atlantic shipwrecks and centuries of Halifax history.

Join us on the McNabs Island Adventure Sail as we follow the historic routes surrounding the island, past old fortifications, hidden shore batteries, and the same waters that once protected Halifax Harbour from the sea.

Before Sail Halifax had a name, it was just a few friends and an old sailboat.

We started by taking out friends… then friends of friends… then random families on the dock, curious tourists, and even a few Uber drivers who said, “I’ve never been on a boat before.”

It didn’t matter who they were, if someone mentioned the water or sailing, or even asked us about the boat on the waterfront, we did what any true Maritimer would do and said, “Hop on board.”

Every trip ended the same way: big smiles and great stories.

Eventually we decided to get a new boat and turn something we loved into a real business — and that’s how Sail Halifax was born. ⚓️🌊

At 40+ feet, she’s steady in harbour chop and nimble enough to slip into Halifax’s hidden coves. More space, more stability, more time to enjoy the ocean. 🌊
