Yesterday, we celebrated 12 incredible years of Office Interiors as a founding team of BMO Ride for Cancer. 🙌

Four members of the Office Interiors team have participated in every Ride since the very beginning…an extraordinary commitment that has helped the team raise more than $350,000 for local cancer care at the QEII!

At the heart of that legacy are Scott MacIntyre and Jim Mills. As Co-Chair for more than a decade, Scott’s vision, leadership and belief in what the Ride could become were instrumental in its extraordinary growth and success.

Scott and Jim didn’t simply support BMO Ride for Cancer; they helped build it. Their leadership inspired an entire organization to rally behind local cancer care and created a legacy that will be felt by patients and families across Nova Scotia for years to come. 🧡

You did it! Our BMO Ride for Cancer community rallied to raise $325,000 to support the Breast Cancer Patient Empowerment Program (PEP).

What's even more exciting is that BreastCancerPEP is officially underway and enrolling its first patients! This groundbreaking clinical trial is exploring a new way to support patients with breast cancer beyond their medical treatment — bringing home-based support for physical activity, nutrition, sleep, stress, emotional wellbeing and more into their everyday lives.

Because of you, our BMO Ride community, a new kind of support for those facing breast cancer is becoming a reality. 💙

When Joe Robichaud was just ten years old living in Halifax, a nagging hip pain revealed a tumour in his bone. He underwent surgery to remove it, but the pain lingered. Just one year later right before Christmas of 1962, Joe’s leg bone shattered when getting out of bed, the result of osteosarcoma, a bone cancer. Joe underwent surgery to remove a portion of his pelvis and entire leg.

Despite this immense challenge, Joe forged a path forward, navigating learning to use a prosthetic and growing up to become a professional photographer while still finding time to give back to charitable causes.

Participating in BMO Ride for Cancer with his team Colleen’s Cuties is a continuation of Joe’s drive to make things better for those fighting the disease. He’ll be tackling 50km on the trail with a customized bicycle.

“I don’t know anyone who hasn’t dealt with cancer, either personally or with a loved one,” says Joe. “They might consider getting involved to make a difference, to help others, in memory of those who we’ve lost and in support of those who are going through treatment now. There is a sense of accomplishment, a sense of doing something for others while helping others.”

This year, riders like Joe have already rallied crucial funds to bring MRD technology to the QEII. Now, our BMO Ride community is helping bring BreastCancerPEP to Nova Scotians, a way to support and empower breast cancer patients in our province. 💙 Read Joe's story and get involved:

The Freedom of Wheels – Joe Robichaud’s story Joe will be tackling the 50 kilometre-challenge. Joe notes that while he is taking part in raising funds for cancer care at the QEII Health Sciences Centre, he hopes people take part as a personal challenge.
