It is currently nesting season for endangered piping plovers! Thanks for helping protect them by respecting beach closures.

Current beaches with closures include St. Catherines River Beach and Little Port Joli Beach (Kejimkujik National Park Seaside).

Community Presentation - Annapolis Valley First Nation!

Join Pemsɨk Lead Melissa Labrador https://www.pemsik.org/ and CPAWS-NS to learn about the Pemsɨk Conservation Mosaic and the incredible life found below the surface. In a presentation packed full of visuals, we will take you along on freediving surveys which combine Traditional Mi’kmaq Knowledge and western science to form a new understanding of intertidal ecosystems in Mi’kma’ki and the species that call them home!

Next wednesday at 8:30PM, join the Pemsik Project and CPAWS-NS for an evening BioBlitz in Thomas Raddall Park! CPAWS-NS staff and Mi’kmaq Knowledge Keeper Melissa Labrador will guide participants on a twilight walk through the woods, documenting crepuscular birds and insects. Cross your fingers and we may even find a luna moth!

An amazing gathering of over 70 ocean folks for Ocean Week Halifax, Torpedo Rays Scuba Adventures, and CPAWS-NS bioblitz event this weekend, contributing to the Sambro Ledges iNaturalist.org project and sharing connections with the ocean.

Big thanks to Torpedo Rays, Ocean Week Halifax, and to all the folks who came out!

This week is Ocean week 2026, a time to celebrate and appreciate the ocean and everything it does for us!🐟🦞🪼🐋

Join us at Torpedo Rays Scuba Adventures bioblitz happening at at Sandy Cove, Terrence Bay Beach, Saturday June 6th at 10am🤿Snorkelers, certified divers, mermaids, beach goers welcome!

We’ll be there to talk about the diverse underwater ecosystems off Nova Scotia and answer questions/share knowledge on marine species of Atlantic Canada.

This Wednesday May 6th, freedive the underwater ecosystems of Pemsɨk (without having to face the cold water)!

Join Melissa Labrador https://www.pemsik.org/ , and CPAWS-NS freedivers/biologists at Port Joli Community Hall for a presentation full of stunning underwater visuals, accompanied by informative dialogue.

Learn about this culturally important area and get to know the species that call this coastline home.

We had a full barn at Cape LaHave Adventures last night! We had the best time connecting through a shared appreciation for the LaHave Islands and enjoyed the many great conversations afterwards, thanks for coming out everyone!
