The somewhat soggy landscape did not in any way dampen the enthusiasm of this morning’s Storytime at the Gardens attendees, who were treated to these wonderful books.

Today’s large and lovely crowd of attentive listeners were treated to this wonderful selection of Storytime treasures.

✍️The Woozles Writes contest is on again!

We have begun accepting submissions for the 2026 Woozles Writes Writing Contest! You could be the lucky winner of a $75 Woozles gift certificate! The contest is judged by a panel of published children’s authors.

Prizes will be awarded to two winners: one for young authors aged 6-10, and another for writers aged 11-15.

If you wish to enter, email an electronic version (ideally in PDF or doc format) to [email protected] with the subject line ‘Woozles Writes 2026 Entry’. Be sure to include your name, age and contact information. This contest is open to children living in Nova Scotia. Story limit of 25 pages or 12,000 words.

The contest closes on Friday, July 31, 2026 at 4 pm.

A lively crowd was on hand for this morning’s Storytime at the Public Gardens.

So….here are the books that today’s Storytime at the Public Gardens attendees were treated to.

A good crowd and a gorgeous day (not to mention some great books!) made for a delightful Storytime at the Gardens.

We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day for our first Storytime back at the Public Gardens…and these were the books we shared with the happy crowds. Thank you to our friends at the Public Gardens for having us back again this year.

With spring in full swing, and everything turning green, we will be returning to the Halifax Public Gardens for our weekly Storytime! Join us this coming Tuesday, May 19th at 10:30am at the big tree near the cafe with your little ones and a picnic blanket, and enjoy some fun books and beautiful flowers. 💐

This event is weather dependant and will be cancelled if it is raining. We will confirm any cancellations on our social media accounts by 8 a.m.

Some books to sing along with seemed to be the perfect thing for Storytime at the Berkeley on this gray day.
