Excited to have a small amount of this coffee at Java Blend. This is a Caturra varietal from Narino, Colombia. It is a washed process that has been fermented in whole cherry for 48 hours and then deplulped and fermented again for another 24 hours.

We only have a small amount of this coffee! We are planning our first batch of this coffee to be roasted on March 23rd.

It is with extremely heavy and grieving heart to share the news that our Brett Campaigne has passed away on December 31st.

As we walked into the store at 6am to open the cafe, "Goodmorning, Brett" was often the first words that we said out loud for the day. This would be followed by the start of Brett's curated music in the café for the day, as per following Brett's "Bangers Only!" rule. Brett would then turn to us and say "Get up to anything fun last night?"

If you've been a local coffee patron in Halifax, chances are Brett has made and served your beverage with pride and care. If you ever needed answers to how to better enjoy your coffee in or out of our café, Brett was there to genuinely share as many tips as possible.

For those who've had the privilege to know Brett, you know that he was an embodiment of moments of happiness that we always seem to find ourselves searching for and chasing after.

As we remember Brett and reflect on his impact in our lives, we realize that when a good and honest person has touched a life, every memory becomes a line of hope, a glimpse of happiness, and a reminder to love each other.

There was always love and excitement in Brett's eyes and voice as he talked about his family, and his plans with them each holiday, birthday, back-to-school, or even just as he proudly mentioned little things about Allison and Zeke.

2025 Updates from Fredy and
This year, Fredy has focused on renovating part of his plantation with new seedlings, aiming for higher production. Rising costs of inputs and difficulty finding labour has remained a challenge but his commitment to organic soil care and manual w**d control keeps his farm productive.

Fredy is proud that his coffee is no longer tied to local intermediaries and is increasingly positioned in the specialty market. For him, every bag of coffee sold represents not just an income, but a confirmation that his effort and dedication are opening new opportunities for the future.
