Session outline:
Join us for a “Train the Trainer” session for the SAFER Spaces Workshop — a learning opportunity designed for individuals interested in facilitating conversations around inclusion, equity, allyship, and safer communities.
This session will walk participants through the content and structure of the SAFER Spaces Workshop, which explores the six elements of a safer space, intersectionality, power and privilege, and meaningful allyship. In addition to reviewing the material itself, we will discuss facilitation strategies, group engagement, responding to challenging moments, and tips for creating supportive and respectful learning environments.
The full SAFER Spaces Workshop is typically delivered as a 3-hour session. This training is intended to help build confidence, strengthen facilitation skills, and support participants in adapting the workshop for their own communities, organizations, or groups.
Whether you are new to facilitation or already experienced in community education, this session offers an opportunity to deepen your understanding and expand your toolkit for leading inclusive conversations.

Our next Community of Practice Session is Tuesday May 19th, 10:30 AT. And Fertility Matters Canada (FMC) will be speaking!

As usual, if you have not previously registered you can become a Community of Practice member through the link in our bio.

From FMC:

FMC will be speaking about our community-informed project, funded by Health Canada’s SRHF, which aims to improve how people access, understand, and navigate fertility care in Canada.

We’re grounding this work in lived experience and prioritizing voices that are often underrepresented in fertility and reproductive health care.

Fertility care in Canada is often fragmented, difficult to navigate, and not designed with all communities in mind. Many people experience:
Gaps in safe and supported care
Limited access to relevant, affirming information
Structural barriers within healthcare systems

This project aims to help shift that by co-creating resources that are more inclusive, transparent, and community-informed.

The SUGAR Health website has a section with recommended free online trainings for service providers - and we wanted to highlight some that we love! We know in an ever changing landscape of SGRH care that taking a training can be a fantastic way to make sure you are providing people the care they deserve.

We encourage the service providers we partner with, as well as anyone offering SGRH services in the province to check out our training section (linked in bio) to grow your knowledge today.

REMINDER to sign up for Abbey’s talk this Tuesday the 17th at 10:30 AT!

We host a monthly knowledge exchange program for s*xual, gender, and reproductive healthcare (SGRH) service providers, workers, and organizations, and this month Abbey Ferguson from .hfx will be speaking!

Check out the link in our bio to register. Read below to learn what Abbey will be speaking about!

This presentation is an overview of skills, clinical scripts, s*xual health aids, and resources for clinicians (or anyone interested!) looking to bolster their ability to discuss s*x, relationships, and intimacy with patients throughout their cancer journey. As I am not a clinician (and certainly not an oncologist), this presentation is not meant to outline specific oncological interventions or procedures. Rather, it is meant to aid clinicians in their confidence to discuss s*x and intimacy in times of competing health priorities. Clinicians working with older patients and/or those with chronic health concerns may also benefit from the content.
