Canadian Independent Bookstore Day 2026 was one the most joyous, exciting, communal, lovely and memorable days at Bookmark Halifax. Thank you to everyone who participated in person, online and in spirit, with warm greetings passed along for weeks before the day itself. We are so fortunate, on .... or any day.

The Spin to Win Wheel total this year was $2645 in donations to Feed Nova Scotia. Not to forget, cash donations from the sale of the 'literary scrunchies' and other crafts provided by our dear friend continue for the food bank. Thank you for those beautifully designed wearables, LB!

To The Canadian Independent Bookstore Association, we owe a huge debt of gratitude. The work you've put into making this day a true national event for all book lovers is tremendous. has become such a unifying force in all our communities across Canada, we are forever appreciative.

Wolfville publisher and author, Andy Brown, stopped by to say 'Hello' and sign copies of his new book, 'Why Fish P**s Matters: On the Last Authentic Bohemia', covering the history of the zine often considered Canada's most influential. Along with a signature, Andy also had time to create a small drawing (see a pic of the cartoonist's drying process!). Thanks, Andy.

We are so excited to be welcoming best-selling author Carley Fortune to Halifax for the launch of her new book Our Perfect Storm.
