On May 27, the Province has announced several updates to the Liquor Licensing Regulations to come into effect June 1.

These changes include;

- Requiring mandatory door/security staff training

- Monetary penalties for liquor licensing infractions

The Restaurant Association of NS has been working on several advocacy items with Alcohol, Gaming, Fuel & To***co (AGFT) and are pleased with amendments that will be beneficial to our industry, including;

- In-house infusion of alcohol is now permitted

- Eating establishment or lounge licensees may now permit an employee under the age of 19 to serve, but not dispense, alcohol to a customer’s table when full meal service is available until 10pm

- AGFT approvals are no longer required for certain activities related to selling alcohol for take away

- Licensees have now been provided with specific criteria to allow the removal of patrons from licensed premises

These are positive steps to removing unnecessary red tape and easing regulatory burdens for businesses.

Thank you to everyone who participated in 2026 Dine Around this February! Together we raised $13,027 in support of Feed Nova Scotia, helping providing meals to Nova Scotians facing food insecurity.

A huge thank you to the 72 restaurants that donated a portion of their menu sales and to all the diners that support local restaurants throughout February. Your meal made a difference!

Dine Around is a month-long food event focused on creative, specifically priced menus, ranging from $10 - $60. Dine Around showcases restaurants, cafes, and bars across the province. There’s something for everyone to enjoy that is budget friendly – from fine dining to grab and go!

The party was a success! Thank you to all our guests, exhibitors and sponsors for the 2026 Imbibe Cocktail Event.

It's amazing to see how the cocktail community continues to grow. Over 300 people sampled 25 cocktails plus three non-alcoholic options from /, , and .
