For Heritage Day 2026, Nova Scotia honours Joseph William (“Willie”) Comeau. Comeau was a long-serving Nova Scotia Liberal politician and Acadian leader who represented both Digby and Clare in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly for over 30 years and was appointed to the Senate of Canada in 1948.

Comeau’s long standing career reflects a lasting commitment to public service and Acadian culture.
