What can you say in 30 seconds?

We’re putting our founders to the test — elevator pitch style.

Today’s spotlight: a solution tackling a real gap in how we monitor and support the health of aging adults.

We invest in senior care, but we rarely see the full picture of functional health — what’s declining, what’s being missed, and where intervention could make all the difference.

John and his team are building an AI-powered wearable platform to change that — giving care providers actionable insight so they can improve quality of care and help seniors live independently, longer.

It’s simple: better data → better care → better lives.

Stay tuned for more of these, snapshots of what our community is building.

Tribe HQ was more than an office. It was a reference point. A place where "showing up as yourself" was the operating principle.

The space became something bigger than what we planned it to be. That's what happens when a community has a space that has been created for them — it stops being an office and starts being a reference point. I went to Tribe. I met someone at Tribe. Tribe helped me figure that out. You should speak to Tribe.

We’re taking that soul with us to 1800 Argyle.

We’re reimagining what it means to build here—shifting from a destination to a connected ecosystem. You can now find Tribe on the 8th floor, anchoring ourselves at the heart of the innovation ecosystem at Volta.

To everyone who made 1717 Barrington what it was — thank you! The address was just a street number. You made it a home.

Come see the view. We’re hosting a Tribe Social on June 3 at 5:30 PM to open the doors. If you’ve ever been a part of what Tribe has built—as a founder, a partner, or a friend of the ecosystem—this one is for you.

You have 30 seconds. Do you know what to say? 🎤

Most founders skip straight to the product and lose the room before they even get there. The fix is simpler than you think.

In this episode of Founder Support, Katerina walks through the exact pitch structure that works in any conversation:

âś… Lead with who you are and your background before anything else.
âś… Frame the problem clearly and make it relatable.
âś… Show why YOU are the right person to solve it.
âś… Close with a clean, confident summary that sticks.

Whether you’re at a networking event or in a VC meeting, this is the formula.

You don’t need to be technical to start building.

In this episode of Founder Support, we hear from Valentina, a founder who built her company as:
• A single mom• A solo founder• With no coding experience

So what did that actually look like?
• Starting with tools like WordPress and figuring it out as she went• Testing different platforms — some worked, some didn’t• Using AI to close the gaps and keep building• Learning by doing (and a lot of late nights)

The takeaway?
There’s no perfect starting point.
You don’t need to have all the skills. You don’t need to have it fully figured out.
You just need to start — and stay with it long enough to see it take shape.

If you’ve been waiting until you feel “ready,” this is your sign.
Start where you are.

Is “Building your own model” the only way to win in the AI era? 🤖

The hype might make you think you need a proprietary model to survive, but the real value is often found in the workflows and niche utility you build on top of existing tech.

In this episode of Founder Support, Ngutor dives into:
âś… Why bespoke workflows beat generic chatbots every time.
✅ How to build “sticky” products that fit into your customer’s daily habits.
âś… The biggest risks for application-layer startups as big model companies scale.
âś… Why niche utility and switching costs are your ultimate competitive moats.

If you’ve been wondering if ex*****on and user experience are enough to win over investors right now—this one is for you.

Every pitch doesn’t land the same way and that’s not by accident.

Where you’re pitching, who you’re speaking to, and what they value all shape how your message is received.

In this episode of Founder Support, Nicholas shares what founders should keep in mind when pitching locally vs. internationally:

• Know your audience — not every room speaks the same language (literally or figuratively)
• Adjust how much context you give depending on who you’re speaking to
• Don’t rely on funding incentives — especially when pitching outside of Canada
• Pay attention to how different cultures communicate (a “yes” isn’t always a yes)

The goal?

Build a pitch that connects clearly no matter the room you’re in.

Because a strong idea isn’t enough if it’s not understood.
