Salaam alaikum everyone.
This is my first time speaking publicly since my son Mubarak passed away a little over three weeks ago.
As you can imagine, it has been a very difficult time for me and my family.
But I am grateful to God first and foremost… and to all of you.
The outpouring of love, support, and prayers has carried us in ways I cannot fully express.
We are still learning how to live with this new reality. How to adjust to a life without our son’s presence in our home.
Many of you know that Mubarak was a healthy young man before a brain tumour changed everything.
No one saw it coming.
By Allah’s mercy, he lived far beyond what the doctors expected.
And we are grateful for every extra day we were given with him.
His passing was sudden for us, even though we knew his illness was serious.
One of the most beautiful things in this difficult time has been witnessing how deeply Mubarak touched people: his family, his friends, and the community leaders who reached out to honour his life and keep his legacy alive.
Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve been working on something that gives me comfort as a father.
I’ve been working on building Mubarak’s legacy.
As Muslims, we believe that when a person passes away, their book of deeds closes… except for the good they leave behind.
And if people continue doing good because of you, those deeds reach you even after you’re gone.
Losing my son was not only losing him…
It was losing the part of me that knew how to be his father.
But I’ve come to realize something that brings me peace:
Fatherhood does not end at the grave, it simply changes direction.
In this life, I built for him through guidance, love, and du’a.
Now, I can build for him through sadaqah jariyah and ongoing good in his name.
I can still provide for him and protect him just in a different realm: the realm that matters most.
So today, I want to share with you the campaign we’ve created to honour Mubarak’s life and his love for community.
I hope you will take a moment to read through our story.
It is hard to summarize almost 23 years of life in a few paragraphs, but we tried to capture his heart, his character, and what he meant to all of us.
I invite you to build with me for my son, Mubarak.
To help continue the good he started.
To help light his path in the hereafter.
Build with me for Mubarak.
