Mini Felted Jonathan is well-rested after the Good Friday liturgy, and has spent quality time practicing the Exsultet with me in a semi-darkened empty church.

Tomorrow night I'll be deacon at the Easter Vigil at , but it doesn't start until 11:00 pm. 😱 However, such a late night will also bring the privilege of being part of the baptism of a number of students. Easter will be an endurance event this year, but once the 10:30 liturgy with the is finished, I'll be done for the day.

It's Palm Sunday, so before anything else, I've cut a sprig of boxwood from the garden to wear on my lapel.

Check the Gospels and see: in three out of the four accounts of Jesus's entry into Jerusalem, there's no specific mention of palm branches. We're simply told that people cut *branches* from the trees. Only John says that they were specifically palm branches.

There were certainly plenty of palm trees around Jerusalem for the crowds to cut, but there also would have been olive trees and plenty of others. While many Christians celebrate with palm branches this morning, there are also traditions of using other branches, local to the congregation: instead of, or in addition to, the traditional palms. Perhaps the important part is not in the branches themselves, but in cutting something growing nearby in our eagerness to welcome Jesus.

However you celebrate, may this Holy Week be a blessing to you and yours. We'd love to welcome you to join us this morning at 10:30 at the Anglican Church of the Apostles on Bayers Road! 🌿

It's been a busy week for Mini Felted Jonathan! This afternoon, he had a great time making palm crosses with the Sunday School teachers and some other friends. Many hands made light work, and there were even a few crosses made that were just his size!

You should come join us on Sunday for the Palm Sunday procession, the Eucharist from the Book of Common Prayer, and a Godly Play story for the kids! The service starts at 10:30.

Vision, Coffee, and a Familiar Face. β˜•οΈ

I’m out at this afternoon with an old friend who's about to get acquainted with new friends at the Apostles: Mini Felted Jonathan.

We’re here to start planning a Vision Check. It’s a chance to look back at the goals the parish set fifteen years agoβ€”to see how they have settled and where our community is calling us next.

Understanding where we’ve been is the only way to clearly see where we’re going. I’m looking forward to a day of honest, hopeful conversations about our shared journey.

Stop by and say hello if you’re on Spring Gardenβ€”MFJ and I would love to see you.
