The extreme tactic of self-amputation means survival in the animal kingdom 06/24/2019

Lab alumnus, Will Jarvis was the primary author on a science journalism piece about Katie Black's work on plasticity in self-amputation in damselflies. See the conversation,

The extreme tactic of self-amputation means survival in the animal kingdom Why do some animals amputate their own limbs? Turns out, there's a whole bunch of reasons why this strategy has evolved.

Causes and Consequences of Behavioral Interference between Species

Three years ago I met Greg Grether for the first time at the 2014 ISBEE meeting in NYC through Kathryn Peiman. From there we three put together a symposium on Interference interactions at the ISBEE meeting in Exeter UK in 2016 where I met a diverse group of researchers that had studied interference interactions from behavioral, ecological and evolutionary perspectives. Then we wrote a paper - now out in TREE! Causes and consequences of Behavioural Interference between species. Kudos to all of the co-authors who moved this forwards and to the stimulation by all at the symposium!

- “Comparative analyses of phenotypic trait covariation within and among populations” 08/22/2017

It's alive! The covariation trait paper by Peiman and Robinson is finally out! Here we analyze how the type of trait relationship influences the expression of phenotypic trait covariation within and among populations and how all that evolves under selection. Man, we learned a lot making this come about!

Kuddos to David Gislason for his paper 'Rapid changes in age and size at maturity in Lake Erie yellow perch (Perca flavescens) are not explained by harvest' being accepted for publication by the Canadian Journal of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences! This is great news coming ahead of his PhD defense in May!
