October 2025 marks the 22nd Cyber Awareness Month.
Yes Cyber Crime and Security has been an issue for 22 years now and is a growing concern. It is estimated we are at a 65% shortcoming of having the in field support of cyber experts necessary to combat this problem. If you or you have children coming of age to start a post secondary education, consider a future in Cyber Security.
The field of IT security, investigation, and forensics offers a variety of very well paying job positions that cater to different skill sets and interests:
• Cyber Security Analyst: Protect systems and processes from cyber and ransomware attacks.
• Cyber Crime Investigator: Manage internal/external computer forensic investigations and occurrence reporting.
• Digital Forensics Analyst: Analyze electronic devices for evidence in cybercrime investigations.
• Incident Response Specialist: Identify and mitigate cyber threats, ensuring damage is contained and reduced.
• Forensic Investigator: Extract digital evidence using forensic techniques and prevent cyber-related crimes.
These positions require a mix of technical skills, analytical thinking, and a commitment to solving complex problems in the digital age. With the growing need for cybersecurity professionals, there are numerous opportunities to make a significant impact in protecting the digital landscape.

I can't count how many times I have had a user with a failed hard drive.
Was the data backed up? No
Do you have a copy on another computer or thumbdrive, perhaps you sent it as an attachment in an email? No
"I lost all my picrures, resumes, budget spreadsheets", the list goes on!
In most cases I can recover your data unless it has been written over or the mechanical drive has failed beyond being able to access with my equipment and software.
Do not give up just yet, get hold of me at [email protected] and let me recover your lost data.
When you login to a secure site from your COMPUTER, such as your banking or any other site containing personal information, be sure to use the on screen keyboard (Accessibility Keyboard), entering your credentials with the mouse.
While not foolproof, they can prevent hardware keyloggers. Mouse clicks, screen captures and website activity monitoring are all ways cyber criminals can obtain information about you and your data.
Best Practices:
To minimize the risk of keyloggers,
It's crucial to:
* Use reputable security software to identify Malware and keep it updated.
* Avoid entering sensitive information on public computers.
* Always use two-factor authentication for important accounts.
