The Pack Way - Dog Training

Some mug shots!!! Haha Of my new students! I am so lucky to have these guys as students. A father son duo, who live with 7 other labs and a very loving dog mom. This father/son duo unfortunately started a couple of scraps with other, so we are teaching them how to work together as a team. They are very smart and they already have a great relationship and training foundation with their dog mom, so we are gonna do this!! Looking forward to their progress.

My new Students!! a pack of super cool huskies and one of the most dedicated dog mommas I have ever met. We have Bandit and Kai, brothers from another mother (both 8 months old). Kai is young and pretty street and distrusting of over things, he is a rescue dog and just 2 months ago he was lost and running the streets until his wonderful dog mom came and saved him. He feels like he isn't fully ready to trust and is pretty street, guarding some things from the other dogs. But you can see he really wants to have a dog family and wants to be friends with his brother, he just isn't quite sure how to just yet. Later we are adding in Odin the power of the pack and at 7 years old hes big and beautiful and looks like a Dire Wolf. he loves the other dogs but sometimes wants to control them, and start issues so we are working on that. It is very rewarding to put this dog family together. I know they will be great soon.

Did you know that Dog training can be done most anywhere.. in fact training in different and new environments is one of the best ways to bomb proof your pups. We love training dogs out in new environments because it teaches them how to do something in a new environment. For starters we always recommend a Beginner level dog training class so your pup learns how to learn, and becomes hooked on dog school before you go out into the real world. Viking meeting a friend. Everyone is always amazed and how big he is and how stable and social he appears. Socialization is absolutely key to a balanced dog... but its not the be all, end alll..with large guardian breeds relationship is the other half. The dog trusting your judgement, when you accept any stranger onto your land..with your acceptance and welcome of this new person your dog will follow your lead. The key is to establish a great relationship early on, where dog learns you make the decisions in the home and you are able to demonstrate yourself to be a competent guide who is able to lead them, not only be their best friend. Too cool! This is my new student, and I couldn't be more mesmerized by him! Such a cool fella! He is a basenji the Ancient Trible dog of the Congo Rainforest and the Pymgy tribes.

He is a really cool pup, very bonded to his people. We are working on some fearful reactivity to other dogs. He actually can't bark so his reactivity will be quiet but stresses him out. I will be working on helping him to find the stress free zone, so he can live a peaceful life and his family can better enjoy walks with him.
