The impressive Sobha One project in Dubai is a proposed residential development comprised of nine interlinked towers, ranging from 30 to 66 storeys tall.

Constructing such an intricate design within a wind-prone region requires a solid understanding of the interaction the towers will have with both the wind and each other.

Explore how the RWDI team helped to optimize the Sobha One design so that it was both cost effective and sustainable.

Wind engineering studies ensure projects are not only safe and comfortable but also economical and sustainable.

One Bangkok is a collection of 10 unique buildings, including a 430m tall signature tower. The project designers needed to ensure the structural integrity and safety of the buildings in Bangkok’s windy environment.

The collaboration between RWDI and the design team, which included studying the wind-induced structural response of the towers, enables One Bangkok to be built safely while ensuring comfort for its occupants. It also allows the designers to optimize the development, reducing costs and climate impact through refining the quantity of materials required.

How To Reduce Embodied Carbon in Buildings and Why It Matters 08/13/2024

Reducing embodied carbon is rapidly becoming part of many building sustainability regulations and certification programs, including LEED, California Bill AB 2446, the Canada Green Building Council's Zero Carbon Buildings standard, Federal green procurement policies, and municipal development standards, such as the Toronto Green Standard.

The World Building Council has set a goal for all new buildings: net zero operational carbon and a 40% reduction in embodied carbon by 2030.

But how do we actually reduce embodied carbon?

How To Reduce Embodied Carbon in Buildings and Why It Matters RWDI’s core practice areas bring together a diverse array of capabilities around a common purpose: meeting the immediate aims and broader business goals of our clients.
