🚢 The world's largest car carrier just launched — and it holds over 10,000 vehicles.
Guangzhou Shipyard International handed over the Glovis Leader on April 28, 2026 — a 230-metre vessel and the first car carrier in history to exceed 10,000 units of capacity.
For context: a standard 9-car stinger hauls 9 vehicles per run. This ship hauls more than 1,100 full truck loads in a single voyage.
The global vehicle logistics chain is scaling up fast. Ocean capacity, ground transport, rail — the whole system is being rebuilt for volume.
The truckers on the ground are the last mile of that chain. And the last mile never gets easier.

Warning to anyone shipping a vehicle: car carrier scams are on the rise.
Here's how it works. Scammers create fake transport accounts, monitor scheduled shipments, then intercept the booking — changing pickup dates and delivery addresses. The car gets delivered to the criminals. It's gone.
Police in Greenwich, CT arrested two people in March after an undercover operation caught them mid-theft. The suspects tried to run over an officer fleeing the scene.
What to do:
1. Always verify the carrier's MC number on the FMCSA website before handing over keys
2. Confirm the driver's name matches the original booking
3. Never hand keys to someone you can't verify
4. Photograph the vehicle before it's loaded — every angle
Legitimate carriers don't rush you. Scammers do.

Canada's border system keeps crashing — and carriers are paying the price.
On April 30, CBSA's EDI system went down again — causing multi-hour backups at Ontario, Quebec and Manitoba crossings. That's at least 4 serious outages in two weeks.
The Canadian Trucking Alliance says fleets lose tens of thousands of dollars per hour when trucks sit idle at the border. Missed delivery windows. Chargebacks from US receivers. Blown schedules.
CBSA says it's moving to a new cloud system (CARM) — but full deployment isn't expected until late 2027.
Until then? Build 24-hour buffer time into every cross-border routing and preload customs data into backup portals.
If your freight moves across the border, plan ahead. The system isn't ready.

Volvo Trucks just confirmed their updated D13 diesel engine cuts NOx emissions by 80% — fully compliant with incoming 2027 EPA standards.
2027 is coming fast. Carriers still running older engines need a plan.
The new EPA standards will apply to all new trucks sold after January 1, 2027. Non-compliant equipment won't disappear overnight — but resale values on older trucks will drop, and fuel surcharge structures may shift to reflect cleaner fleet premiums.
