Computer House Calls
Serving the Guelph area since 2003 Fast affordable Computer Repair
I know it has been a while since I last posted, I am still doing computer repair, and decided to do another business venture, something radically different than fixing computers,
Which is smoking brisket, I am not joking when it comes to this, but I been doing this during the pandemic, and will be charging $20-$25 per brisket, originally I was going for culinary but switched to fixing computers.
I have learned that my business is an essential service, as defined by the Ontario Government in regards to the COVID-19 situation.
However, as mentioned in a previous post, any service jobs will be done remotely by using Teamviewer (no computer drop offs until further notice and I won't be dropping in either to look at a system unless it is urgent and a urgency fee will be applied if that is the situation)
Payment will be by PayPal or e-transfer.
Thanks.
I'll be doing computer repair jobs remotely for the next couple of weeks using TeamViewer (Software only issues) no system drop offs please.
So it has come to my attention the coronavirus is of a major concern. Any computers that come in will be wiped down with a Lysol wipe.
Them preventing the virus is complicated but it's best to play it safe
If cases start to pop up in Guelph. As Toronto is literally at Guelph's doorstep, I can do the tune-ups Windows 7 to 10 upgrades and virus removals remotely with TeamViewer, and will be accepting e-transfers.
Thanks.

Doing a bit... Of a improvement to the Windows 98 PC. I am huge when it comes to vintage hardware.
I changed out the old cd drive for a 5.25 floppy drive
I had this in a Windows 2000 I built (it was pictured earlier with all the media it could read)
This 98 system is mainly for 90s gaming. Or if getting something off a floppy disk is your thing. I also can do that too.
I actually did a few months back.

I unfortunately won't have any street parking for clients for a few days.
It means two thing
1. I can go to the client
2. You'll get a Christmas card at the end of the year. As I do keep records.
In regards to the last post. I think it might be time to switch over to Windows 10.
I can do the update it's $50 per PC. It includes backups if applicable.
If in doubt and it can't be updated we will chat about other options such as using Linux.

I sometimes wonder if Microsoft is doing this to force the Windows 10 change
Windows 7 bug prevents users from shutting down or rebooting computers | ZDNet Another major bug hits Windows 7 after the January 14 end-of-life (EOL) deadline.

Does anyone need any business cards? Fire off a message and I'll send some your way.
Today's job, a bit more an interesting job, desktop wouldn't load, due to some weird desktop accessing issue / a broken start menu
Windows 10 is a bit weird when stuff breaks in the Operating System, it could go as far as doing a reset of the installation.
Taking it home wasn't an option as I drove to Fergus to fix it.
Various things wouldn't get things set back right, but found the solution of making a new user profile.
It basically resets everything, but I still think Windows 10 needs to fix some of their issues.

Today's job. It actually isn't a common job for me to do the run of the mill setups / file transfers from old to new systems. But the system is good to go.
