Forestry operations present unique visibility challenges, especially when large loads can obstruct an operator's view and create blind spots around the machine as seen here.
This loader is equipped with the SCAN~LINK system, which uses passive RFID detection to help improve awareness around heavy equipment in demanding work environments.

Equipment size, load handling, and changing work areas can create visibility challenges for both telehandler operators and ground workers.
This telehandler is equipped with the SCAN~LINK system, which uses passive RFID detection to help improve awareness in high-risk areas around the machine.
When visibility is limited, awareness becomes even more important.
What do you think is the biggest visibility challenge when operating equipment like this?

At first glance, the antenna on top looks ready for replacement.
In reality, the internal components and electronics remained fully operational and passive RFID performance was unaffected.
Rather than replacing the entire unit, the damaged housing was replaced and the antenna was quickly returned to service.
It's a practical example of how durability, repairability, and thoughtful design can help reduce downtime, lower costs, and extend the life of critical safety equipment.
SCAN~LINK is built for the realities of harsh environments.

Blind spots become even more dangerous in tight working areas where workers and equipment are operating in close proximity.
This video highlights how quickly a worker can enter a machine's blind spot and how easily a serious incident can occur without proper awareness.
The SCAN~LINK system uses passive RFID detection to identify tagged workers in high-risk zones, providing immediate audible and visual alerts to operators and audible alerts to personnel.

Landfill operations create challenging environments for heavy equipment like this BOMAG landfill compactor, with constant movement, uneven terrain, and limited visibility caused by debris and blind spots.
The SCAN~LINK antenna uses real-time detection of passive RFID-tagged workers to improve awareness for both operators and ground personnel in high-risk conditions.
What improvements would make landfill operations safer in your experience? Let us know, we'd love to hear your thoughts!

This antenna still works.
Despite experiencing extreme damage in a real-world hazardous environment, all of the internal electronics remain fully functional.
Built from highly durable polycarbonate/ABS with an anodized aluminum backplate, our antenna units are designed to withstand the harsh conditions found in industrial operations. While the housing absorbed significant damage, the critical technology inside continued to perform as intended.
In cases like this, SCAN~LINK systems can be quickly repaired in-house by transferring the internal components into a new housing. This approach helps reduce downtime, lowers replacement costs, and improves overall system ROI.
For industries where equipment is exposed to constant impacts, vibration, debris, and harsh operating conditions, durability is about more than protecting hardware. It's about minimizing downtime, maintaining safety system performance, and helping keep workers safe.
Built for the real world. Built for worker safety.

Blind spots remain one of the leading causes of struck-by incidents around heavy equipment.
The zones shown here are common examples of where visibility can be limited across different machines. These can include rear blind spots, front and rear blind spots, and side and swing radius hazards on excavators.
In reality, blind spots can exist in multiple areas depending on the machine, jobsite conditions, and operating environment.
Understanding these risk zones is a key step in preventing incidents before they happen. SCAN~LINK helps improve awareness in these areas using passive RFID detection designed for real-world jobsite conditions.

Most struck-by incidents happen because construction sites are dynamic environments where visibility changes constantly, workers move unpredictably, and equipment operators are making split-second decisions in congested areas.
Even experienced operators can lose sight of personnel near active machinery.
That’s why improving operator awareness is one of the most important parts of modern construction safety.
The SCAN~LINK Armour System™ uses passive RFID worker detection to help operators maintain awareness of tagged workers in high-risk blind spot areas around heavy equipment.
Passive RFID means:
• No batteries
• No charging
• No maintenance
• No false alarms caused by debris or nearby objects
Helping reduce struck-by risks before incidents happen.

Struck-by incidents remain one of the leading causes of fatalities in construction.
According to OSHA and SafetyNow, road construction zones are among the most dangerous jobsite environments, where workers on foot operate closely alongside moving equipment in tight, fast-paced, and constantly changing conditions.
Blind spots, limited visibility, and fast-moving equipment can turn a routine task into a severe incident extremely quickly.
Improving worksite safety starts with understanding where these risks exist and enhancing operator and worker awareness, supported by systems, procedures, and technologies that help maintain visibility of personnel in high-risk zones.

Would the operator see them in time?
The SCAN~LINK Armour System™ actively monitors the area behind the loader while it's backing up using passive RFID worker detection technology.
When a tagged worker enters the detection zone, the operator receives immediate visual and audible alerts to help prevent a struck-by incident before it happens. Additionally, an external alarm sounds to alert the ground worker of the danger.
Passive RFID means no batteries, maintenance, false alarms, and is built for real-world jobsite conditions.
