Trans Day of Visibility 2026 - Egale Canada Every March 31st, the trans community and allies come together to observe Trans Day Of Visibility (TDOV)

On Monday Dec 1, the Grande Prairie Live Theatre screened the documentary, Flashback, for World AIDS Day. The documentary opened hearts, sparked reflection, and reminded us why awareness and compassion still matter. Thank you to everyone who came out in solidarity. ❤️🕯️

Welcome and congratulations to the new GALAP Board Members! After a successful meeting and election, we are excited to announce the new Board of Directors!

-Yax Posas is returning as President
-Eunice Friesen has taken on the role of Vice-president
-Casey Mills-Eby will be finishing their term as Secretary
-Chuck Sleep is stepping into the role of Treasurer
-Rick Brown, Gordon Pellerin and Mark Woods are joining us as Directors at Large

We have much work to do to rebuild not only the organization, but the trust of the community we serve, and we hope you will continue to support us as we move forward. We ask for your patience as we begin our work, and recognize that trust is not so easily earned.

Above all, we would like to thank everyone who has continued to support us over the years!

As per our previous post, we will be holding a new board election Sunday, October 5th at Bear Creek Funeral Home's Prairie Hall.

In the interest of having as many people as possible able to attend, we are open to community input regarding the start time for this election.

Would people prefer 5pm, 6pm or 7pm?

We'll see you there!

Due to low attendance and no election taking place tonight, we will have another special general meeting next month, Sunday, October 5th, pending Bear Creek's hall availability. We have reached out regarding this, and we shall make a post confirming the details as soon as we have them. This is a notice that another election will be taking place on October 5th, the time and location are TBD.

Please let us know if you can make it, and if you would like to run for the board. At this time, the current board and community members who attended tonight have begun discussing the possibility of dissolution should we fail to elect a new board next month. We do have some interest for potential board members, however we do not have enough people at the moment to form a new board. We also welcome discussions on what GALAP means to the community, and what the community wishes to see from the organization moving forward.

GALAP will be holding a full board election Saturday, September 6th at 7pm, pending availability at Bear Creek Funeral Home's Prairie Hall. An update will be posted should this change.

We want to thank everyone for their support over the years. But we are tired of the fighting and the drama. It has been made clear that the community is not satisfied with the current board members, so we will all be stepping down effective September 6th, pending the new board election.
