On June 13/26, the GP Regional Safety Committee had a table on the 16th hole of the GP Golf & Country Club for the annual GP Construction Assocation golf tournament.
We talked to the golfers about the committee and also provided info about the courses offered by the AB Construction Safety Association that will lead to a NCSO (National Construction Safety Officer) or NHSA (National Health and Safety Administration) designation.
Thanks to Committee Chair Linda G, Colbie G, Jill C., and Amanda S. for their help. The weather cooperated and it was a good day!

Today at the GPRSC meeting, Sarah with Key To Safety presented a valuable safety minute on 'Lightening Safety When Working Outdoors'.
Lightening can strike up to 16 km (10 miles) away from a storm, even when the sky above you appear clear. If you hear thunder you are close enough to be struck by lightening.
Key Safety Reminders:
- Monitor weather conditions before and during outside work.
- Follow the 30-30 Rule. Count slowly from 1-30 while timing 30 seconds. If the time between seeing lightening and hearing thunder is less that 30 seconds stop work and seek shelter immediately. Move to a substantial building or a fully enclosed vehicle. Avoid trees, open fields, elevated areas and metal objects.
- Stay sheltered for at least 30 minutes after the last thunderclap before resuming work.
- Report changing weather conditions to your supervisor and follow site emergency procedures.

This would be a good topic for your safety meeting this week.
June is Men’s Mental Health Month.
It is a good reminder to check on the men in your life.
Not just with a quick “how are things?” but with a real conversation.
A lot of men are carrying stress, pressure, grief, loneliness, and burnout quietly. Sometimes the people who seem the strongest are the ones struggling the most.
Checking in matters.
Listening matters.
Making space for honest conversations matters.
At RCSP, we continue working to create programs and spaces where men feel supported, connected, and less alone.
If someone comes to mind while reading this, reach out to them today.

Would your company like to be part of a fundraising event to support a great organization?
Who is already planning their golf season? ⛳
The RCSP Charity Classic is coming up fast and we are still looking for teams and hole sponsors.
Last year brought great shots, terrible shots, a lot of laughs, and one very competitive Happy Gilmore hole.
This year is shaping up to be even better.
Whether you want to get a team together, support mental health in the community, or put your business out on the course as a sponsor, we would love to have you involved.
It is one of the most fun days of the summer and every dollar raised helps support programs and services right here in our community.
Grab your crew and join us.
