If you're a fan of fighting games and looking for some recreational reading this summer, or insights into Japan-US business dynamics, why not try Like a Hurricane: An Unofficial History of Street Fighter II by Matt Leone?
Leone compiled the book from a number of interviews conducted with personnel from Capcom Japan and Capcom USA. It covers the time period from the development of the original Street Fighter, through the arcade boom of Street Fighter II and its variants, and the declining arcade years when Street Fighter III was released.
Like a Hurricane is either on our new book shelf, or upstairs at GV 1469.39 L46 2023

If you're a fan of FPS games and looking for some recreational reading this semester, why not try one of these two books:
Masters of Doom by David Kushner
Doom Guy: Life in First Person by John Romero
Masters of Doom covers the early years of ID Software, creators of Doom and Quake. Kushner talks about how John Romero and John Carmack started working together, and what ultimately led to Romero's departure, and the challenges both faced in the aftermath.
Doom Guy is Romero's autobiography. He talks about his violent childhood, what led him to start ID Software with Carmack, the challenges he faced at Ion Storm, and his thoughts on how to run gaming companies in general.
Masters of Doom is shelved upstairs at QA 76.2 A2 K86 2004
Doom Guy is either on our new book shelf, or upstairs at GV 1469.3 R644 2023

Broken permalink?
If you created a permalink using one of our databases prior to our transition to OpenAthens this summer, you may have to strip out the URL prefix that pointed it to our EZProxy server. Here's an example:
Original URL: https://ezproxy.agpc.talonline.ca/login?url=https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&db=psyh&AN=2022-43687-001&site=eds-live
Revised URL: https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&db=psyh&AN=2022-43687-001&site=eds-live
If you have a permalink that no longer works even after removing the EZProxy URL prefix, please contact a Learning Commons staff member.
