MY HAIR WAS AWAKE. I WAS NOT. 😂
Let’s talk about sleep debt in perimenopause.
This was me one morning near the beginning of my perimenopause journey (5+ years ago). At the time, I didn’t fully understand what was happening. I only knew I was awake, exhausted and apparently conducting electricity through my hair.
Fast-forward to this morning, when my Oura ring called me out.
I slept for 7 hours and 14 minutes, which sounds fairly respectable. But my sleep score was only 68. My restfulness needed attention, and both my REM and deep sleep were low.
Because sleep isn’t only about how long you’re in bed. It’s about whether your body is getting the restorative sleep it actually needs.
What I like about is that it doesn’t treat one night as the whole story. It looks at your patterns over time and estimates how much sleep your body typically needs to recover and feel its best.
That number isn’t exactly the same for every body, and our needs can change depending on stress, physical activity, disrupted sleep and how much recovery our bodies need.
Sleep is the foundation the rest of our health stands on.
When that foundation starts to crack, everything feels harder: energy, mood, cravings, focus, stress tolerance, exercise recovery and making the choices we know will help us feel better.
Sleep debt builds when we repeatedly get less sleep than our bodies need. Poor-quality sleep can also leave us under-recovered, even when the number of hours looks “good.”
And one heroic sleep-in on Saturday doesn’t magically fix it. I wish it did!
This can become especially complicated during perimenopause and menopause. Hormonal changes, night sweats, temperature shifts, stress, pain, anxiety and those bloody 3 a.m. wake-ups can all affect how well we sleep. And really, every night at 3 a.m. ugh! However….
This is where I can help!
Together, we look at your whole picture, identify the patterns disrupting your sleep and create realistic changes around your routine, stress load, movement, nutrition, caffeine timing, sleep environment and recovery.
No rigid bedtime boot camp. No pretending you have no responsibilities. Just practical, personalized support that fits your actual life.
If sleep has become the thing knocking everything else off track, DM me, or text SLEEP along with your name to 519-441-8380.
Let’s get your foundation back under you! 🛌 😴
Finding peace by the water. Where is your favorite place to unwind and recharge?
I dig me.
And I don’t say that lightly.
I love hanging out with me.
I trust myself more.
I enjoy my own company.
I actually like the woman I’ve become.
But I didn’t just wake up here.
I did a lot of work to get to this place. Some of it beautiful. Some of it brutally hard. A lot of unlearning, rebuilding, questioning, choosing differently, and finding my way back to myself.
And that’s a big part of why I do what I do now.
Because I want other women to get here too, without feeling like they have to drag themselves through quite so much fire first.
To like themselves.
Trust themselves.
Enjoy themselves.
Choose themselves.
Start enjoying your own company.
It’s worth it.
You’re worth it.
And if you want some support getting there, DM me. We can talk. 💋
Being Gen X is actually pretty damn cool! 😎
We grew up before cell phones and before the internet, but we were also there when both arrived.
We know what it was like to disappear outside until the streetlights came on. Our parents did not know where we were, and somehow nobody called in a search party.
We figured things out. On our own.
We made mistakes. We learned the hard way. We entertained ourselves, solved our own problems and got s**t done because that was simply how we were raised.
Our parents may not have talked to us about perimenopause or menopause, but honestly, this gives us the chance to do what Gen X has always done best:
Learn. Ask questions. Dig for answers. Figure out what works for us. Figure out what doesn’t!
Because let’s be real, we have been teaching ourselves our entire lives. And would we really want it any other way? Hell no!
We are not a generation that sits quietly when something does not make sense.
So let’s take a page from our own book.
Let’s explore. Let’s ask questions. Let’s talk openly about what is happening in our bodies. And let’s stop pretending we are supposed to just grin, bear it and carry on.
Have questions about perimenopause or menopause?
Send me a DM. I am here, and there are no stupid questions.
Gen X has figured out a hell of a lot already 🔑 🛝 📺📽️📟🖨️
We can figure this out too. ✊

Facebook hit me with this memory from 5 years ago and my first thought was… MY SHOULDERS + TRAPS. 😂💪 I miss them! And my cute short blonde hair! Haha.
This was during 1st of 2 rounds of 75 Hard I completed that year, and the was absolutely directed at that water bottle! 4 litres of water every damn day was the HARDEST part for me, and I complained about it constantly! 🤣 That bottle and I were in a deeply unhealthy relationship. 😂
But when I look at this picture now, I don’t just see my body.
I remember how strong, healthy and focused I felt. Physically, yes, but mentally + emotionally as well. Life was not easy then, but I showed up for myself. I felt powerful. I felt capable. And I miss that feeling.
Fast-forward 5 years, and May 2026 brought some pretty serious news. I was diagnosed with two aneurysms, 1 near my spine and 1 in my carotid artery. I have an incredible doctor, Dr. Agnes Kluz and thanks to Kerry-Lynn Hall - who gave me a tremendous recommendation - I’m also being cared for by an incredible neurosurgeon and team at St. Michael’s in Toronto. After previous and some more tests, my neurosurgeon will decide what treatment comes next.
It’s very serious. I know that. and it took me some time to let it all sink in. But now, I know, I have to do what I do with my clients - meet (myself) where I’m at - know my audience (myself) and get out of my own way!
But I also know I need to protect my mindset (good and low mindset) while I move through this. I need to laugh. I need my people. And I refuse to let these two freeloading little as****es (the aneurysms lol) take over the whole damn house!
So… I’m naming them. 😂
Current contenders:
🧠 Pinky & The Brain
🚘 Bonnie & Clyde
🤡 Frick & Frack
Or maybe you can come up with something even better.
This is part of the Middle Season too. Sometimes s**t happens. Scary s**t. Life-changing s**t. But we can be honest about how serious it is and still find moments of humour, strength and connection inside it!
These aneurysms are part of my story right now, but they are not the author. And they will not take me over! F**k that!!
So tell me below…
What should I name these two idiots? 👇❤️

Different hair. Different season. Same cheeky woman. 💛
This photo is from a couple of years ago, before the red hair, before Middle Season, and back when I could wear yellow without my hair and shirt fighting for attention… or getting into an argument at the diesel pumps. 😂
A lot has changed since then. My hair, my priorities, my body, my patience, and definitely my tolerance for bulls**t.
But that little smirk? Still there.
I don’t think Middle Season is about becoming a whole new person. I think it’s about getting more comfortable with who you already are.
A little wiser.
A little louder.
A lot less apologetic.
And still cheeky. Obviously. 😉💛
Also… can we have a moment for the yellow shirt? 😂
What’s one thing that’s changed for you… your hair, your style, your priorities, or your tolerance for nonsense? I genuinely want to know. 👇
This weekend, I’m slowing down.
Not because everything is finished.
Not because the list disappeared.
Not because life suddenly became quiet.
I’m slowing down because I’m learning that rest is not something I have to earn.
So many of us reach this middle season carrying old pain, old mistakes and old versions of ourselves like they still get to decide who we are.
They don’t.
What happened to you may be part of your story, but it does not get to write every chapter that comes next.
This weekend, I’m choosing more space.
More breath.
More presence.
More of the woman I am becoming.
No fixing. No forcing. No proving.
Just slowing down long enough to actually be in my own life.
How are you making a little more room for yourself this weekend? 🤍
This weekend, slow down just enough to enjoy your life a little more. 🤍
Hug your friend for a couple of extra seconds.
Feel the sand beneath your feet.
Notice the water on your skin.
Smile a little more.
Sing a little louder.
Dance to a happier beat.
The little moments are not interruptions to your life. They are your life.
Do one thing this weekend that makes you feel fully present, then send me a photo or share it in the comments. I want to see what enjoying the moment looks like for you. ☀️🌊
