A final set of pics showing off the BY50. Finished with 800 Instrument buffalble finish. Custom cast and custom handwound vintage spec pickups. So many handmade parts.

I have changed finishing products and am trying out Clean Armor. To really challenge myself, I'm doing this black finish to see how good I can get it.

For those curious:
I dry sanded with 1000 grit by hand.
Then wet sand with 1000, 1500, 2500, 3000.
I used my buffing wheel with medium and fine bars.
I then used my 3" DA with menzerna wet compounds 1000, 2500, 3000, 3500.

I'm 99 % happy, I need to fine-tune my sanding to catch those micro scratches.
This finish clear was applied today. 2 coats and is a fully cured finish. That's sweet, plus it's scratch resistant.

This guitar was birthed by inspiration. From the first true electric guitar, the Bigsby BY50 come the newly envisioned Black Bird Special. With an all new tremelo design!!

What a lovely pair. Neck is now out of the clamps, and next will be the final sanding and prep for finish. As you know, the lemondrop is done in a French polish finish, which is still ongoing.
It's finesse time now. The frets were all done and polished before glue-in, much easier.
Neck is 0.85" at 1st fret and 0.93 at the 12th with a sweet "C" shape. The shadow play and reflections on these guitars look so amazing. New inlay design on the lemon drop as well.
