Miss Mony aka Story Book's Roll Model is pretty as ever.

Now if only the rain and wind would take a hike id be able to finish my photo updates. Sadly not before all the lilacs have gone for the year.

A Little Morning Story Book PSA 🐰💕

I've had a few people reach out recently looking for specific breeds, colours or even wanting specific rabbits. Most inquiries are wonderful, but occasionally people become quite pushy when things don't happen as quickly as they'd like.

I completely understand the excitement of welcoming a new bunny into your family. I also understand falling in love with a bunny you see online and hoping for one just like it. Bunnies are great, and Story Book bunnies are pretty amazing too. 😉

That said I believe every rabbit deserves to be treated as an individual rabbit, not simply a baby making machine, regardless of what "nature intended." As a mom of five, with four of them born fairly close together, I know the value of having time to recover and simply exist between raising babies. Humanizing animals or not, I feel my rabbits deserve that same consideration and this is what works best for my family and rabbitry. Because of that, I give my does at least 3–4 months between kindling and even attempting to rebreed, and often longer depending on the season, show schedule, and the individual rabbit. Most of my rabbits have only 1–2 litters per year, and many have just 1–3 litters during their entire time here.

I breed primarily for show, for myself and for my children. Every pairing is carefully planned with specific goals in mind, whether that's improving my program, producing youth showmanship / 4h prospects and projects. A great deal of thought goes into every litter.

Because of that, after our personal choices, existing Story Book homes receive first consideration. Show potential rabbits are placed with show breeders only. Pet quality rabbits are then made available as companions.

I cannot guarantee litter sizes, genders, colours, show quality or when a rabbit will become available. I often hold back my most promising youngsters and the lines I've worked hardest to develop so I can properly evaluate them as they grow.

I truly appreciate everyone's excitement and interest in my rabbits. While I understand that waiting can be difficult when you've found a breed, colour, or bunny you love, my breeding schedule will always be based on what I feel is best for the health and well-being of my rabbits first.
Those who choose to wait simply give themselves the opportunity to someday welcome a Story Book bunny into their family. And if you wish not to wait, I am happy to help you find the perfect fitting rabbitry for your needs
