Gimli Fire and Rescue

One of our most important - and dangerous jobs - is traffic control. If you see emergency vehicles blocking the road with lights flashing, please don’t try to drive around them.

Today we honor all firefighters, career and volunteer. Keeping communities safe around the world.

This weekend Gimli Fire and Rescue members were busy learning valuable skills in the Common Passenger Vehicle Rescue Seminar. Seven members along with two members from Riverton Fire Department and two from Winnipeg Beach Fire Department spent Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the classroom and then out at the training ground learning how to safely work on a Motor Vehicle Rescue Scene. Without members like these giving up their weekend to learn new skills our departments wouldn’t be able to deliver the coverage our communities need.

Highway 8 and 9 are both currently closed. Visibility and conditions are very poor. Because of this, our emergency response time will be affected. Please help us out by not traveling unless absolutely necessary. If you can, stay at home until conditions improve and roads reopen.

Weather conditions continue to worsen, visibility is poor, and roads are getting bad. Please don’t travel if you don’t have to.
