As the homeschool year wraps up, are you finding that some of your child’s learning goals weren’t met despite everyone’s best efforts?

If you’re heading into summer with unanswered questions about your child’s progress, now is the ideal time to gain clarity and develop a solid plan before the fall.

A psychoeducational assessment can help you understand what’s getting in the way - and what supports will help your child move forward with confidence.

Don’t wait until September to start looking for answers.

Our team is happy to help!

📚 Homeschooling Without Guesswork 📚

As homeschool parents, we spend a lot of time choosing curriculum, planning lessons, and supporting our children's learning.

But one of the most valuable tools you can have isn't a curriculum at all—it's understanding how your child learns.

A psychoeducational assessment provides a detailed picture of your child's strengths, challenges, learning style, and cognitive profile.

When you know:

✅ What comes naturally to your child

✅ What requires more support

✅ How they process information

✅ Where they may be struggling

You can make informed decisions about curriculum, teaching approaches, pacing, and expectations.

Instead of wondering, "Why is this so hard?" you can begin asking, "How can I support my child most effectively?"

Knowledge creates confidence—for both parents and learners.

Our team had a wonderful couple of days attending National Institute for Learning Development-Canada 2026 Annual Conference: Neuroscience, Numeracy, and Meaningful Math Instruction.

This year’s professional development focused on strengthening math instruction and deepening our understanding of effective math thinking strategies.

Since every one of our educational therapy sessions includes a focus on math development, this learning was especially meaningful for our team.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to grow professionally and excited to bring new ideas, strategies, and insights into our work with students.

I have to say…this is our most powerful technique!

Today, I had the privilege of representing National Institute for Learning Development-Canada in leading two workshops at Milton Christian School, where the focus of their Professional Development was on Social Emotional Learning (SEL).

It was incredibly refreshing to listen to these educators and witness their genuine passion for fostering resilience in their classrooms.

Thanks, Christine Klein-Geltink for inviting me!

The Big Question: To Test or Not to Test?

It’s something I talk about with homeschool parents all the time:

Should we have our kids tested and identified?
Will it actually make a difference in our homeschool?

Many of us hesitate.
We don’t want labels.
We don't want our child to feel 'unique'.

But what if a psychoeducational assessment could empower both you and your child?

What if it helped you finally understand why certain things feel so challenging.

What if, instead of a label, it became a roadmap—helping you shape a homeschool that truly fits your child?

✨ Summer testing dates are now available—reach out if you’d like more information.

I had the pleasure of speaking with Dr. Daniel Ansari, from Western University. It was such an insightful conversation that left me eager to learn even more at NILD Canada’s upcoming conference.

While the Science of Reading has transformed how we approach literacy, it’s time to deepen our understanding of how neuroscience shapes math learning as well.

Anyone else want to join me in attending this conference?

I know some of you are bringing a little Olympic magic into your homeschool this week, and I wanted to share a fun idea you can easily do with your own unique learners! 🏅✨

During the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, one of my kids created their own “newspaper clipping” project — and it ended up being such a meaningful, hands-on way to experience and celebrate the Games.

Here’s the idea:
📰 Have your kids choose one Olympic sport or athlete to follow.

📰 Watch short clips or highlights together.

📰 Create a “newspaper page” about it — include headlines, drawings, fun facts, medal counts, interviews (real or pretend!), and even ads.

📰 Add geography by locating the host country on a map.

📰 Tie in math by tracking medals or timing events.

It turns watching the Olympics into a multi-sensory learning experience — history, geography, writing, art, and excitement all rolled into one.

If you decide to try it, I’d LOVE to see what your learners create!

I’m excited to be part of this team, presenting at this conference, HELP for Homeschooling Highschool.

Still recovering from foot surgery, but I wasn’t about to miss grandkid ski fun.

So I set up my office In the ski chalet while they hit the slopes.

And, I got to enjoy all the excitement and stories when they came in for refueling!
