At Northern Construction Academy, our Heavy Equipment programs are designed to give students real, practical experience. With programs starting every Monday, you’ll spend your time learning directly on the machines, guided by instructors who have worked in the industry and understand what it takes to succeed.

We are so excited to be a part of the Event at Cambrian College again this year!

Our team will be at the Cambrian College Campus this Wednesday, April 29th, giving young women the opportunity to explore a career as a heavy equipment operator by trying out our excavator simulator!

Becoming an equipment operator with NCA can lead to career opportunities in a variety of industries across Northern Ontario, including mining, construction, landscaping, material handling, oil and gas, and more.

This month’s feature piece of equipment at NCA is the Backhoe!

A backhoe is a versatile construction machine consisting of a tractor-like unit equipped with a front loader bucket and a rear hydraulic digging arm. A backhoe can be customized to use various attachments, including hammers, forks, plows, and more!

Often used in landscaping, demolition, and material handling projects, these small but mighty machines are efficient in tight spaces. Backhoes were named for their ability to pull dirt back toward the machine, unlike a shovel, which digs away.
