Did you know you can return books to our exterior drop boxes anytime, day or night?

It’s an easy way to return those long-overdue items and give your library account a fresh start. Please return items like board games, tech, and other fragile materials that could be damaged in the drop box directly to the service desk, though.

Not too long ago, a lost dog wandered through the automatic doors at one of our branches looking for help.

A little nervous and unsure, he was gently guided by staff into the stairwell to stay safe and calm until he could be happily reunited with his owner.

The library is a safe place to go. For dogs, too! 🐕🐾🥰

Cherry Beach — Wellington County Library 06/03/2026

Staff pick! Joan recommends 'Cherry Beach by Don Gillmor':

"A vicious stabbing of two high-achieving teenage girls in a crime-ridden area leads a Toronto detective to confront adversaries within his own police station, as well as political circles that include powerful and influential people. A well-written crime thriller."

Cherry Beach — Wellington County Library Cherry Beach — Gillmor, Don — A brutal murder exposes secret real estate deals, a corrupt police force, and the dark heart of a city simmering with unrest. A little story of library joy from our Rockwood Branch, where we have vintage Franklin and Arthur posters on display. 🐢

Recently, a visitor told us something that stopped us in our tracks: he mentioned he's friends with Franklin's original illustrator! On a previous visit, he'd taken photos of our posters to share with her. Seeing those familiar illustrations, knowing they're still hanging in a library, brought her real happiness.

That made us pretty happy too.

It’s the perfect time of year to visit the Hillsburgh Branch and enjoy the beautiful outdoor grounds and nearby Elora Cataract Trail. While you’re there, stop into the library and take a look at two stunning paintings recently donated by local artist Annette Dyon, inspired by the trail near the branch. We think they make a wonderful addition to the kids’ area!
