Today, Michael Kerzner unveiled our government’s $3 billion plan to add more than 2,500 adult correctional beds across Ontario.
This expansion will support the hiring of 700+ new correctional staff and help to ensure violent offenders stay off our streets and behind bars where they belong.

Great to welcome Minister Jill Dunlop to Centre Wellington and Erin to highlight local investments through Ontario’s Community Emergency Preparedness Grant.
Centre Wellington received over $32,000 to upgrade emergency shelter supplies, support staff training, and equip the volunteer Fire Department with a drone to assist in emergency response and hard-to-reach areas.
Erin received nearly $49,000 to strengthen emergency preparedness and protect critical infrastructure, including the town’s Water Recovery Facility, from power outages and cyber threats.
These investments will help ensure both communities are better prepared to respond during emergencies and natural disasters.

Our government is taking action to speed up vulnerable sector police record checks so people can access jobs and volunteer opportunities faster. These changes will reduce wait times while maintaining strong safeguards to protect the most vulnerable.

I had the opportunity to meet with members of the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs, including Deputy Chief Bruce Morrison from the Halton Hills Fire Department.
We had a productive discussion about continuing to support firefighters and local departments across Ontario, including through our government’s recent decision to double the Fire Protection Grant to $20 million.
Thank you for your continued dedication and service to our communities.
