I'm doing a lot of R&D lately, that is Research and Disappointment. one of the things I need to know now to make my lantern installations work is signal engineering, and to that end i'm trying to figure out how to use and oscilloscope to look at the square waves an led pixel is sending to see how well they maintain squareness over cable distances. good times.

but, while researching oscilloscope reading, I have found some joy in the oscilloscope music scene. that is people who write their music in such a way as to draw pictures on an oscilloscope. that's not disappointing.

I’d like to re-introduce to you the Three of Feathers drop prism lantern. The waves, wings, stars, and moons design was inspired and designed for the Flying Canoe Volant festival in Edmonton, AB.

This year we are running a special Festival Edition series of lanterns as a fundraiser to help create a consistent funding stream to pay for outside artists. As lead artist for this event, I’m always trying to find ways to bring more voices in to the visual universe of the our production, and often it’s budget is in the way.

50% of the sale of each of these lanterns will go to artists to bring more magic to the festival, while you to bring some of the magic of the Flying Canoe Volant home with you!

Brought some art to Fort McMurray for IgNIGHT. The big arch got some lighting upgrades and a fresh new spinner set.

Some local artists took a workshop with me for how to design for cutout shadow projection art, and Barbara Madden and Ruth Perry’s work was chosen to get produced on my Bollards.

Night Light is all about giving artists a space to play and grow! These are some installs coming to Night Light 👀

I’m putting up art at Zen Garden in Calgary next week. Looks like this event really prioritizes art with the music, so I’d say it’s worth checking out:)

Health Canada as a cool API feature on their website where you can link their data, in this case the Air Quality Health Index, to other things. Some people at the City of Edmonton made a widget to allow wifi enabled colour change LEDs to display this number as a colour. 5 years ago they asked me to build a lantern around that, It was a fun project!
