November 01st, 2022 and today, Historian Kathy Grant of The Legacy Voices Project honours the memory of Olive Waterman who volunteered to serve Canada overseas in the Second World War. Both she and her brother Charlie were born in St Kitts and immigrated to Canada as youngsters with their family. Charlie was Canada’s first Black Paratrooper and was also a champion boxer.

After the war, Olive performed missionary work in Africa. Thanking her niece Teresa Phoenix who sent this image of her aunt all the way from Texas.
