Daily Health Checklist 01/09/2022

It's Back to Class on Monday! Remember to complete your Daily Health Checklist before attending school. Alberta Health has recently updated the checklist with testing recommendations and isolation requirements for children and adults who are fully, partially, or not vaccinated. The checklist can be found here: https://www.ecsd.net/page/8503/daily-health-screening-questionnaire

Staying home when sick is one of the most important ways we can reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our schools. Let's continue to work together to keep our communities safe and healthy!

Daily Health Checklist We expect that only healthy students and staff will come to school each day. Parents and caregivers must assess their child daily for symptoms of common cold, influenza, COVID-19, or other infectious respiratory disease before sending them to school.

Children are naturally drawn to all things Halloween. The ghosts, spiders and spooky items provide a wonderful spring board for exploring literacy (story retells and rhyme), speech and language activities and fine motor exploration as they manipulate the small items.

Beginning our day exploring in the outdoors. This time in our natural environment connects us to the beauty that surrounds us while providing opportunities to engage in questioning, investigating and testing our theories. This time outside allows our very energetic bodies to get the big gross motor movements we need, with a calming (regulating) result afterwards as we move through the remainder of our day.

Pretend play and mixing our creations outside! Enjoying our last day together learning in our outdoor space. Thank you so much to one of our wonderful families for donating this amazing mud kitchen! We can’t wait to see the learning that will take place with this new addition.

Our environments communicate an important message. “You are welcome”, “this is a place for you”, “please explore”. Each and every space can be used with intention to create an environment with many interactive parts all working towards supporting the whole child. This space is used to challenge gross motor skills, provide regulation breaks, and even a place where literacy comes alive through movement.

We were so excited to welcome Zelda, a pet tarantula into our classrooms for a visit. We had so many questions as staff and students tested their bravery by sitting near, touching and even holding Zelda’s molted skin! 🕷 It is amazing how children interact with living things, their caring and empathetic nature shines through as they look on in amazement of God’s creations.

The celebrations of new life continue throughout our classrooms. Our amazing teachers and therapeutic assistants in speech and language continue to keep online learning engaging for our learners. Learning all about the butterfly life cycle and releasing God’s unique creatures into the world reminds us all of the beauty that surrounds us each and every day.
