SCERDO, in partnership with Humanity First Canada, was pleased to provide Eid al-Adha Qurbani support to residents of Ceegaag, Somalia.

The distribution included goats and lambs, making this year’s Eid especially meaningful following recent rainfall after a prolonged drought. Special thanks to everyone on the ground who helped make this initiative possible.

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ali Abdiqafar Ahmed, the beloved son of our respected community member & SCERDO board treasurer, Abdiqafar Ali Ahmed, who returned to Allah (SWT) earlier today at the University Hospital.

Janazah prayer will be held on Monday, May 11, 2026, after Dhuhr prayer at Al Rashid Mosque. Burial will follow at Edmonton Muslim Cemetery.

We kindly ask the community to attend, keep the family in your prayers, and share this post so others may join in honoring him and supporting the family during this difficult time.

May Allah (SWT) shower him with His infinite mercy, forgive his shortcomings, expand and illuminate his grave, and grant him the highest level of Jannah. May Allah also grant patience and strength to his loved ones.

Ameen.

We were honoured to have Abdullahi Dubed lead a powerful workshop for SCERDO’s SAYES Intake #5 on Thursday, March 26, 2026.

From SAYES participant to board member, volunteer, and now a successful Entrepreneur β€” Abdullahi’s journey is a true example of what’s possible. Starting from scratch through work experience, he progressed through the construction field from 1st year apprentice all the way to Journeyman, Foreman, and beyond.

An inspiring reminder to our participants that with dedication, growth is limitless.
