Emotional tension develops when our self-image is threatened by inklings of an internal reality (e.g.jealousy, hostility, or competency) that is trying to emerge into our consciousness. We relieve that tension through projection, that is by 'HOOKING' our internal reality onto other persons, places, or things. By this means we can fully convince ourselves that the other is problem or the solution, thereby justifying our upset or adulation. For example, a person harboring a desire for infidelity may become overly suspicious and repeatedly accuse their partner of being unfaithful. Or, a person who is not realizing their own talent or goodness may come to adulate another, as often occurs between gurus and their followers. Understanding what we 'hook' onto others is the beginning of how we reconcile our shadow and consciously integrate our psychic landscape. Recognizing when another is trying to "hang their projections" on us gives the opportunity to practice empathy and disengage from the blame game.

We all get a little guilty pleasure from hearing gossip. Gossip can support community relations and it can tear at the fabric of social groups. What consciousness do we bring to gossip. Are we using it to reinforce β or punish the lack of β morality and accountability? Are we secretly engaging in passive aggression, isolating and harming others? Are we building and maintaining a sense of community with shared interests, information, and values? Are we using gossip to hook the projections of our shadow onto others, without consideration of the consequences to others? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gossip One winds on the distaff what the other spins (Both spread gossip) by Pieter Bruegel the Elder (c. 16th century)

Being a "motherless child" significantly impacts an individual's sense of security, identity formation, and emotional regulation. At one time a motherless child was considered to be orphaned. It is a tragic condition, and one which paradoxically is considered a condition to begin the alchemical work of making the philosopher's gold. "Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child" is a traditional spiritual dating back to the era of slavery in the United States. See

In ancient Egypt the cobra symbolized authority and danger. It's image was part of the royal crown. Those who are conferred authority become dangerous if they use their authority for personal gain or recognition at the expense of those they are meant to serve. The enlightened leader understands that with power and authority come the possibility to impart wisdom and facilitate transformation.

Society is the foundational framework for human existence. A society develops to ensure collective survival, maintain order, defines values, and facilitate cooperation, and contributes to shaping individual identity. What is the character of a society that is governed by Big Business? How does that affect the individual who is not aligned with the precepts of Big Business? Who thrives? Who struggles? Comments are welcomed.

Actualizing Self-Love is paradoxical. In its purest form, Love is an attitude expressed the same towards all objects, including oneself. If one love others more than one loves oneself then one is selfish against oneself. Paradoxically, if one loves ones self more than others then one is selfish against others. See Erich From The Art of Loving.

Loving requires of us to learn to be fully in the here and now, maintaining a state of alert equiponderance. Experiencing intimacy deeply requires that we let go our concern about the next thing or the thing that has passed.

An awareness of separation from others, without reunion by love--is a common source of guilt and anxiety. Erich Fromm The Art of Loving.

The love that transforms is the glue of the world (glutinum mundi). It occupies the interstitial spaces of our being and inscribes our wholeness. We access it by letting go of resentments, and self-seeking.

Goethe titled his dramatic narrative poem a tragedy because the protagonsit, Faust, fails to resolve his main persaonlity fault--his overweaning pride. He fails to come to love and in particular, love as it relates to the feminine. He is too proud to value the feminine except how it might serve him with respect to seduction. He cares not if he ruins women or the natural world. Pride interferes with his ability to love and be loved. He dies never knowing the moment of peace he longed for and for which he sold his soul to the devil. That is a tragedy.
