Mark 13:32-35 NIV
[32] “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. [33] Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come. [34] It’s like a man going away: He leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with their assigned task, and tells the one at the door to keep watch. [35] “Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back—whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn.

2 Corinthians 10:17-18 NIV
[17] But, “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.” [18] For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends.

Psalms 77:12-15 NIV
[12] I will consider all your works and meditate on all your mighty deeds.” [13] Your ways, God, are holy. What god is as great as our God? [14] You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples. [15] With your mighty arm you redeemed your people, the descendants of Jacob and Joseph.

Hebrews 12:10-11 NIV
[10] They disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness. [11] No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.

Hebrews 4:14-16 NIV
[14] Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. [15] For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. [16] Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

1 Peter 5:8-10 NIV
[8] Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. [9] Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings. [10] And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.

Everyone builds their life on something. Whether we realize it or not, we give authority to something that answers our biggest questions about meaning, truth, purpose, and how we should live. For some, that authority is culture. For others, it might be personal experience, success, or relationships. But culture shifts, opinions change, and experiences are limited. What feels right today may feel wrong tomorrow.
Scripture invites us to build on something unchanging. God’s Word transcends culture, geography, and time. It speaks truth into every season of life and anchors us when everything else feels unstable. When the Bible becomes our authority, it does more than inform what we believe. It begins to form how we live, how we decide, and how we love.

2 Corinthians 5:20-21 NIV
[20] We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. [21] God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
When you came to Christ, something fundamental changed. The Bible calls it new creation. This was not a surface-level improvement or a behavioral upgrade. It was a change in essence. God did not simply give you new rules. He gave you Himself through the Holy Spirit.
That is why your desires have shifted. You want to please God. You are drawn to His ways. Even when obedience is hard, your heart leans toward Him. That desire did not come from you. It came from the Spirit of God breathing new life into your soul. The struggle does not mean you are failing. It means your nature has been changed.
