What an inspiring evening held at Arcadia Brewing at the beautiful Manchester Square.

Last night I had the chance to meet with CEO Corey Mowles and Deb Lucas from YESS | Youth Empowerment & Support Services — an organization that has been supporting youth in Alberta for over 44 years.

Their mission says it all:

“To collaboratively build a network of care to ensure youth get the expert help they need, when they need it, and where they need it.”

Every day, I’m fortunate to meet organizations that go above and beyond to ensure our youth are heard, supported, and encouraged to find the best in themselves.

Sure, we may have been competing with Game 5 of the World Series, but our turnout was small but mighty… proof that people show up when it matters.

I’ve personally supported YESS for over 20 years, and it was an honour to connect with the leadership team who continue to keep this vital program strong. Met up with a great guy Matt McPhee from Westlink Consultants who have been supporting YESS through connecting the business community to this organization in a real and organic way. Such deep and meaningful conversations and really understanding the hard work needed to keep programs and organizations like this, thriving in a time where many not-for profit groups face daily challenges.

Our plan moving forward is to support YESS through partnership, collaboration, and awareness. Like many, they’re emerging from the “COVID hangover” and stepping back into the spotlight ready to host more events and remind Edmonton that they remain a fundamental pillar in our community.

We are saddened to learn of the passing of Larry Thompson (1960 - 2025), owner of The Edmonton Elks Football Club and a valued partner to our team. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and the Elks community during this difficult time.
