We’ve added a new project to Nature Alberta’s Citizen Science page! 🌳🪲

The Emerald Ash Borer Citizen Science Project, led by Community Field and Forest, helps track the spread of this invasive insect, which poses a serious threat to ash trees across Alberta and Canada. By learning to identify signs of infestation and reporting observations, you can play an important role in monitoring and protecting local ecosystems.

Despite its name, the Mountain Bluebird’s playground extends far beyond the mountains 🏔️ Although this species is a known wanderer, it gets its name from its tendency to nest primarily in high elevations! 🐦🪹

The results are in! 🐦❄️ Alberta’s 2025 Christmas Bird Count brought together 2,000+ volunteers who recorded 207,476 birds across 58 count circles and helped set 9 new provincial records! From prairie grasslands to backyard feeders, this year’s count highlights the continued enthusiasm and dedication of Alberta’s birding community.
