It’s the best time of the year! Come visit and pet some critters or pick up some bugs :) We have lots to meet, for sale, and to learn about!
A continuation from our last sneak peek into the butterfly lab, this is a glimpse at the weekly health inspection we give to our chrysalis. This is just one of the essential steps undertaken for the physical and genetic health and safety of our animals, to support a stable future for these special animals and those like them.
It’s that time of year! Place your orders now, or contact your local retail/partner location - presales are going quick!
This is an older video but mantis season is almost here! If you are in Canada and want an ootheca or some mantis nymphs for your class or kids, get your order in STAT :)
He’s eating Repashy’s “Bug Burger” - a staple supplement at our lab but not the whole diet. This species, like most roaches in Canada, are restricted under the Plant Protection Act. All of our roaches are here under federal permit and our facility holds CFIA containment authorization.
What do we do over the winter, you may ask? Research of course!
We are always working on some project here, for the betterment of our butterflies: often, we are focused on disease control/prevention, food & diet, and genetic health, but anything we theorize could support a more stable future for these animals and the project may be investigated.
Rest here weary traveler, before you continue on your journey
