Upcoming Christmas Events:
Saturday, December 21, 7:00pm: Longest Night Service. Scripture, music, and quiet meditation to remember losses, acknowledge grief, and pray for light and hope. This service recognizes that for some the Christmas season may be a time of sadness rather than "tidings of good cheer".
Sunday, December 22, 9:30am: Christmas Fellowship and Hymn Sing. Join us for hot chocolate and fellowship followed by a hymn sing in the sanctuary. For the hymn sing, we’ll be sitting in parts (soprano, alto, tenor, bass) for easier 4-part harmony singing. Zoom participants can join in at 10:35 to sing a few carols.
Sunday, December 22, 10:45am: Worship service.
Tuesday, December 24, 7:00pm: Christmas Eve service. Come hear the Christmas Story told through word and song.
Wednesday, December 25, 10:45am: Christmas Day service. Join your church family as we open the gifts of Christmas!
If you'd like to join any of the services via Zoom, please contact the church office.

We're Hiring!
Inviting applications for two pastoral positions for a combined FTE of 1.5 - 2.0.
First Mennonite Church is excited to build a new pastoral team that works along with our church community to help us grow as a community of grace, joy, and peace. We are a multi-generational, urban church of approximately 180, with Anabaptist theology and principles guiding us. God has called us to be an inclusive, affirming, Christian community. Congregants are actively involved in church ministries and programs. The new pastoral team will share pastoral responsibilities in a manner that fits with their skills and gifts.
For information or to apply, please contact: Ruth Friesen, Search Committee Chair ([email protected], 780-910-2573) or Tim Wiebe-Neufeld, Mennonite Church Alberta Executive Minister ([email protected], 780 994-1021).

Join us tonight (September 30) at 7:30 for an outdoor viewing of Nîpawistamâsowin: We Will Stand Up. It is a 1 hour and 38 minute documentary released in 2019 that relays the
story of the killing of Colten Boushie and his family's pursuit of justice.
Many of you will remember the headlines of that violent Saskatchewan confrontation.
Any and all are welcome! Bring your chair, a mask, perhaps a hot drink in a thermos (but no sharing!). Wear many many layers.
Lets together honour Canada's first Truth and Reconciliation Day.

This fundraiser is for the parents and siblings of a young Syrian Muslim woman that was married at our church a few years ago. Raghda's mother has serious health issues. Her in-laws are some of the first Syrians that Mennonites brought to Edmonton. She and her husband met in Lebanon where they were volunteers in refugee relief work. Please help if you can.
