The music of Blackout Over Rio features complex rhythmic compositions, explosive soloing, works with varied non-Western instrumentation, and dynamic improvisatory explorations and they're a part of our Edmonton Artist Spotlight during the TD Edmonton International Jazz Festival at McDougall United Church Edmonton Downtown. Get tickets through our website.
They find inspiration in the Tony Williams Lifetime, Larry Coryell’s Eleventh House, and kraut-rock and space-rock groups such as Embryo, Alcatraz, Hawkwind, and Ozric Tentacles. Additionally, they are great admirers of Ornette Coleman, Sun Ra, and John Zorn.
