Interestingly enough, we got our start as a kids edutainment platform distributed by Discovery Communications (or Discovery Channel). Through this experience, we came to recognize that an interactive approach to learning could have a positive impact on workplace learning as well.

Case Study Example

When the Faculty of Arts approached us to help them build a digital course for prospective students, our goal (or challenge) quickly became, "How do we get kids to stick around long enough to learn more about the Arts?".

Our concept was to create an experience based on old-school, adventure-style video games. Think Super Mario or Zelda. The course was named the Arts 101 Universe, and each Arts program became a land within this universe. For example, if a student wanted to find out more about the Humanities, they could venture over to Humanities Land and play the tasks associated with it.

The final course is built so that students can access it at any time and any place. It’s an open course making it available to anyone without having to create an account ahead of time. This allows students to come back multiple times without having to worry about remembering login credentials.
