Celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival with a Live Cantonese Opera Performance!

Join us at the Edmonton Chinatown Multi-Cultural Centre on Saturday, September 27th at 2:00 PM for a captivating performance of traditional Cantonese opera, presented by the Sound of Opera Senior's Society 樂風文娛曲藝社. Experience the timeless art form as talented local performers bring it to life in stunning costumes and makeup.

Before the show, deepen your appreciation of Cantonese opera by visiting our exclusive Cantonese Opera Exhibit in the Centre’s basement (starting at 11:00 AM). Discover the intricate process behind opera makeup and learn how actors and actresses prepare for their performances.

Excited to announce that local magic sensation Jason Wong will be joining us at 2:30 PM in the Kids Corner during our Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration on September 27th! He is a dynamic magician with over 10 years of experience, beginning his journey at 15 with captivating performances at small community events. Now a seasoned professional, he dazzles audiences at private and corporate events alike with his mastery of card magic, including close-up tricks, street magic, and thrilling gambling demonstrations, alongside mesmerizing mentalism. Jason brings a unique blend of skill and showmanship to every performance, never failing to leave every crowd entertained and in awe. Get ready to be captivated as he brings the world of illusions to life for all to enjoy!

Celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival with Us on September 27th!
Join us at the Kids Corner for an unforgettable experience featuring puppet shows by the Magpie Puppet Club (喜鵲紙偶團). We have two enchanting stories lined up:

The Lady on the Moon (月裡嫦娥)

The Monkeys Scooping the Moon (猴子撈月亮)

Performances will take place at 1:00 PM and 3:30 PM. These shows will be performed in English, so don't miss out on the magic of storytelling and puppetry! See you there!

Head over to the Kids Corner at the Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration on September 27th for an afternoon of fun! Enjoy free lantern making, colouring, glitter tattoos. Plus, for just a $2 donation (supporting the Greater Edmonton Chinese Community Foundation), you can try your luck with the fortune sticks! Don’t miss the entertaining puppet shows at 1:00 pm and 3:30 pm, or the magic show at 2:30 pm — it’s a celebration the whole family will love!

This amazing foundation enriches the lives of residents at the Chinese Elders Mansions and the Chinese Seniors Lodge. So not only will you be adding a festive touch to your celebration, but you’ll also be supporting a meaningful cause.
