Trees are so cool!!!
Most people think arborists just climb trees with chainsaws.
What they don’t see is the planning, precision, and heavy equipment behind the scenes. 🌲🏗️
On larger commercial and municipal sites, crane work becomes a huge part of the job. Tight access, surrounding structures, safety protocols, load calculations, controlled removals… it takes an experienced crew and the right equipment to get it done safely and efficiently.
Big equipment. Big responsibility. Bigger respect for safety.
That’s the Trusty Tree way.

When Should You Trim Trees in Alberta
In our climate, timing is everything. Pruning at the wrong time can leave your trees vulnerable to diseases or winter damage. Save this guide to keep your yard healthy year-round!
The Alberta Pruning Calendar
Late Winter (Feb – March): The Best Time. Most trees are dormant. Pruning now prevents the spread of disease, promotes a growth spurt, and makes it easier to see the tree’s skeleton without leaves in the way.
Late Spring (May – June): The Wait Period. As trees push out new leaves, they are using up a massive amount of stored energy. It’s best to avoid major trimming so you don’t stress the tree.
Summer (July – August): For Corrective Pruning. This is the time to remove dead, diseased, or damaged branches. Pruning is acceptable to manage excessive growth, but avoid heavy topping.
Autumn (Sept – Oct): Slow Down. Avoid major pruning. The trees are preparing for dormancy, and late-season cuts can sometimes trigger new growth that won't survive the coming winter.
Winter (Nov – Jan): The Danger Zone. In extreme cold, wood becomes brittle and can shatter or tear poorly when cut.
Not sure if your tree is ready for a trim? Don't risk a DIY mistake. Drop a comment below or send us a DM to book a professional assessment before summer begins!

There’s a lot of backyard wisdom that can actually lead to unnecessary tree removal or worse, ignoring a real problem. Let’s clear the air!
Myth: Trees close to your house should always be removed.
Fact: Not necessarily! A healthy, well-maintained tree can stay near a structure for decades. It’s all about the species, the foundation, and regular structural pruning to keep branches away from your roof.
Most people don’t think about their trees until a branch ends up on the roof. But often, your trees are sending out SOS signals long before a storm hits.
Check the list below to see if it’s time to call in the pros:
The Lean: Has your tree suddenly started tilting? If there’s heaving soil or exposed roots, it’s a red flag.
Deadwood: Are there large, brittle branches without leaves or bark? These are "widow-makers" waiting for a gust of wind.
V-Shaped Unions: Deep cracks or trunks that grow in a tight V shape. These are much more likely to split than a strong, rounded U shape
Cavities & Decay: Notice any large holes, fungal growth on the trunk, or sawdust-like frass at the bottom?
Root Damage: Recent construction or trenching near the base can compromise the entire foundation of the tree.
Don’t wait for a crack in the night.
If you checked off even one of these, it’s worth an expert inspection. Contact us today, and we will help identify what can be saved and what needs to be removed.

That elm over your house might be trying to tell you something. 🌳🏠
Often homeowners call us when they notice or hear these 3 warning signs:
Stress during windstorms
If the tree is swaying hard, dropping limbs, or making you nervous every time the wind picks up, pay attention.
Cracking sounds
Trees should not sound like Rice Krispies. Cracks can mean structural weakness or splitting limbs.
Leaning or sudden movement
If the tree has shifted, started leaning more, or roots are lifting, it may be time for action.
This recent elm removal over a home took planning, skill, and the right equipment to get it down safely without damage. That is why tree removals near houses are never a DIY moment.
If your tree is giving main character drama, let’s assess it before it becomes an emergency.
