We are so pleased to see that construction is underway for a new CASA House in Fort McMurray. The new facility will expand the network of child and youth mental health supports in northern Alberta, offering live‑in and day treatment programs for youth in grades 7–12. Approximately 80 young people and their families will be helped each year as this specialized care will be provided closer to home.
Mental health is one of the core FCSS prevention priorities. Investments like this strengthen the supports that help young people build resilience, stay connected and access care before challenges escalate.
Thank you to YourAlberta (Government of Alberta) for investing in youth mental health, and to all the leaders, Elders and partners who joined to kick off construction. https://bit.ly/4f8aOcI

YourAlberta (Government of Alberta) has announced new investments to improve access to targeted supports for Albertans experiencing family violence. https://bit.ly/3PWn9X7
For FCSS programs across Alberta, this investment reinforces the importance of a continuum of supports. Emergency services are as essential as the preventive, community‑based programs that reduce risk, build protective factors and help families stay safe and connected long before a crisis occurs. These upstream supports are a critical part of creating safer, healthier communities.
FCSSAA remains committed to working with partners across the province to strengthen prevention, support families and contribute to a coordinated response to family violence.
