There's a subtle difference between a page that informs and a page that converts: an informational page tells someone what you do, while a converting page tells them not only what you do, but why it matters to them specifically AND what to do next.

Here’s a great way to tell whether you’re ready to convert: ask someone who doesn’t know much about what you do to look at your homepage.

Then ask them some questions about it.

>Who do you think would buy this?

>What kind of situation would they be in that they’d want to buy this?

>What would they be feeling?

>If they were ready to commit, what would they do next?

Their answers will tell you whether your messaging is aligned to convert or not.

AI is not a strategist; it's more like a contractor who’s there to take a very clear strategy and execute on it.

A good contractor doesn’t decide what the business needs, who it's for, or why any of it matters.

A good contractor builds exactly what you ask for and builds it well.

The strategy part is still yours to own: the audience, the goal, the actual point of the content you're making. AI handles what comes after: the ideation, the organization, the drafts, the repurposing.

Skip the strategy step, and you'll still get content, but it probably won't have the impact you’re hoping to see.

Most people get stuck on the same few things when they're revising AI-assisted content.

The opening feels too formal.

The example in the middle is vague.

The call to action is too weak or nebulous.

Once you can name exactly what's wrong, fixing it becomes much simpler.

Inside Lean Marketing Lab, we keep a running prompt library of fixes for exactly these problems: the same handful of prompts that work on almost any AI draft, ready to paste the second you read something and know it's off but can't say why.

My recommendation for any business using AI is to keep track of the revisions you’re asking for over and over. Build your own library and keep it on hand, then create revision prompts you can use without thinking about them.

Let’s say you handed a brand-new intern a sticky note on their first day that said "write a LinkedIn post" and walked away.

What would you expect to get back?

This is exactly what most people do with AI.

When you don’t provide the context it needs, AI fills gaps with the most average answer available. That's why so much AI content reads like it was written by, well, a poorly educated intern.

When you give AI what you'd give a new hire on day one, the output changes completely.

This is the exact reason foundational messaging is step one in Lean Marketing Lab. Skip it, and every prompt starts from zero. That doesn’t just lead to bad content, either. It means wasted time and effort, frustration, and that feeling of “I should have just done this myself.”

If you’ve found yourself saying that phrase, let’s chat! AI marketing support doesn’t have to feel that way.

Used correctly, AI-assisted content can be undetectable. In fact, nobody should be able to tell the difference at all.

Not possible, you say?

It is! Our clients are solid proof.

What we’ve seen is that the same 5 mistakes are the ones tripping people up over and over as they try to make AI work for their marketing. So, we broke down all five mistakes, plus exactly what to do instead, in this week's blog post.

If you've ever wondered why your AI-assisted content gives you away (and how to fix it), here’s where to start!
