Imprisoned Mind | This historical artwork depicts Guru Nanak seated in calm meditation within a Mughal prison camp in sixteenth-century Punjab. A stone hand-mill turns miraculously beside him, grinding grain without human touch, while prisoners pause in wonder. Bhai Mardana sits nearby, playing the rabab in devotion. In the background, Babur observes the scene with astonishment, while the shadow showcases who is truly in prison. ✨πŸͺπŸŒž

Kirat Karo 🀲🏽 || to earn one’s living through honest, dedicated labor is a guiding light within Sikhi, a principle rooted that calls upon individuals to live with integrity, to labour with purpose, and to see dignity not in status, but in effort.

Sikhs first arrived on the shores of Canada in the early 1900s, with many documented arrivals beginning in 1904. They came carrying little but resilience, faith, and the unwavering spirit of Kirat Karo. Amid unfamiliar landscapes and exclusionary policies, they worked in lumber mills, on railway lines, and within emerging industries quietly laying foundations while enduring hardship.

Over generations, this philosophy has taken root across the country. From fertile farmlands to urban enterprises, from public service to creative expression, Sikh Canadians have continued to embody the grace of honest work. Their contributions are not only economic, but deeply cultural woven with values of perseverance, humility, and collective upliftment.
