The exodus of family doctors from Alberta is real, and the blame falls squarely on Health Minister Shandro. Just as the pandemic was sweeping across Alberta, the UCP government decided it was a good time to wage a public war on doctors of Alberta, to violate their Chart rights, to rip up their contract, and block every possible means of good faith negotiations with the Alberta Medical Association. “A key moment for Alberta’s education system came in mid-October, when parents and schools began to report lengthy delays in notifications for cases due to a contact tracing backlog from Alberta Health Services.
“By early-to-mid-November, we were hearing about students not knowing about an exposure until the quarantine period was actually over,” said Medeana Moussa, executive director of the Support Our Students advocacy group.
“I think that was a huge Achilles’ heel. . . Everything hinged on that tracing system for schools, and when it broke, I think that’s what landed us in this situation.” “
SOS is quoted in this article alongside university professors, physicians, scientists and other important voices that warned of the concerns around schools, data tracing and COVID19.
