Math doesn’t just exist on paper - it’s everywhere!

Finding ways to promote math in authentic ways as children play is the key to meaningful math experience in early childhood.

The math is connected to their interest, their investigation of the world around them as they work to make sense of it, their knowledge construction.

There are so many implicit and explicit messages around us telling us to “be normal” and fit in.

But why? Why do we need to fit in and fit the mold?

We don’t!

What makes you weird is most likely what makes you amazing!

Embrace it, run with it, share it with the world!

You could very well be the person showing a child that it is ok to be themselves, or better yet - that is AMAZING to be themselves!

Literacy doesn’t have to be boring, forced, and only indoors.

Literacy is a huge part of life. We use it to take in information and share our thoughts and feelings with others.

Giving children literacy opportunities outdoors, that they can freely choose and explore, creates meaningful, enjoyable, authentic literacy experiences.

These experiences are powerful!

Inquiry-based learning fits seamlessly into play-based learning and nature-based learning because children are deeply motivated, from within, to understand the world around them.

Simply put, it is about questioning and wanting to know more and following that to a deeper understanding.

Gardening sparks many questions and wonderings for young children as they work to understand what is happening and why it is happening.

Even adults can join in that journey as we, too, try to understand better what is happening and why as we grow and garden!
