Amazing! Love these tools and seeing more and more healthcare providers getting trained! 💪
💡 Exciting Study Alert! 💡
A recent clinical trial published in the International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing shows the powerful impact of the Spinning Babies® approach!
When labor and delivery nurses at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Florida adopted our techniques, their cesarean rate dropped from 27% to 14%. 🙌
This study reinforces the importance of supporting the body’s natural alignment and movement to create smoother, more balanced birth experiences. When birth professionals are equipped with the right knowledge and skills, we can reduce interventions and improve outcomes for both parents and babies.

Hey everyone! How are you? Anyone in need of support? 👋
I know COVID killed our in-person meetings but I’m reaching out to gauge interest… in-person / online?

👋Hi there. I am so glad you found us.
I'm Julia, a Doctoral student at the University of Calgary. I am also a Perinatal Nurse Specialist (RN with a focus on moms and babies).
I have been working with moms/birthing people and their babies for the past 12 years.
After starting my nursing career in labour and delivery, I moved into research and education to learn more about how we can improve the way we care for moms/peoples in labour.
In this research study, I am supported by a team of experts including my supervisor, the Principal Investigator on this study, Dr. Graham McCaffrey (RN, PhD). He has a wealth of experience in mental health nursing and the specific kind of research we are using in this study.
In this study, we are exploring how women understand their experience psychological birth trauma (this can be a traumatic experience WITHOUT any "medical" complications like surgical deliveries or NICU stays).
If you have experienced a traumatic birth 3-8 years ago and want to share your story, please contact me by DM or via email.
The University of Calgary Conjoint Health Research Ethics Board has approved this research study. REB20-1671. Principal Investigator: Dr. Graham McCaffrey

Today is International Day of the Midwife. I LOVE midwifery. The availability of being able to transfer to a midwife at 40w3days when I was pregnant with my son saved me from a third completely unnecessary surgical birth! That experience changed me forever! There was me before that birth experience and the person I came to be after and they are not remotely the same.

I would love to see a new Edmonton school named after midwife, Noreen Walker. ♥️
(I voted to name Dan Knott after her-Ruth)

We asked this question to the members of our CBAC support group:
"What are some themes/facts/thoughts about your CBAC experiences that you think are important to focus on during CBAC Awareness Month?"
(Please keep in mind that every person's perception of their birth will be different, and that is absolutely OK. Emotions can be extremely varied and even conflicting with any birth, but especially a CBAC.)
Here's what one mother shared...
"[It's important to understand] the loneliness of it. And the lack of support that you get from the VBAC community. I almost feel more alone with VBAC moms who feel 'empowered,' as if they took the 'right' steps, when really they did nothing different than I did. I had to mute or leave my VBAC groups because I felt like I had no place."
